What to Wear in Horse Riding?


Horseback riding is one of the most popular sports or hobbies that people want to try. Whenever interested, do not get too much excited about trying it right away because it takes preparation to settle down with your horse. One preparation procedure is by wearing the right equestrian clothing. Such clothing will prevent you from falling off that horse. One item of clothing that is required is a helmet. Obviously, it protects your head from possible injuries. When choosing a helmet, it is advisable to buy a new and affordable one rather than second hand stocks. This is because majority of these second hand helmets may have unseen damage. As a result, this will reduce your protection from a possible fall from the horse. It is better to buy a new and durable one that really fits you. More importantly, do not use other helmets from different sports. They are not all the same. Each helmet is designed for a specific purpose.

Moreover, saddlecloths needed depends on the level of horse riding difficulty. For show jumping, it is recommended that wear the full equestrian clothing. When deciding to ride around the paddocks, normal and simple clothing would be just fine. And once you are already starting to venture out in public, it is important to wear something that passes the visibility test. In other words, you have to be very visible so that vehicles and pedestrians in the street roads can notice you right away.

Many people tend to wear just normal jeans and sweat pant for horse riding. It's fine at some point as long as you are comfortable with it. But in terms of protection, it is suggested to wear the clothes really designed for horse riding. It is also important that your horse is also protected. Therefore, you also need to provide proper gears for horses for their safety. In horse riding, always take note that the horse's safety is your safety. Your life depends on the horse.

Another important gear is the footwear. Some say that it is not necessary to wear riding boots. However, it is still advisable because it makes your feet heavy and protected. You could possibly take a fall from stirrups stuck up, and wearing a fit riding boots would save you from such injuries. The ideal length of heel for the boots is one and a half inches deep.

In general, the main objective of choosing the proper clothing is to provide you safety and fun. Because if you know you are safe, you will not think about anything except the fun and enjoyment you experience while riding the horse.
